Christies
Beach Sports & Social Club
The club is
a multi-purpose facility that aims to service the local community
by providing sporting and social opportunities for residents of
Noarlunga and the greater southern area.

Clubs Involved
Christies
Beach Sports and Social Club
- The 'Parent' club is an incorporated body separated by law from
the other parts of the club, only the Social and Darts Club falls
within the sports and social part of the club. The darts club utilises
the facilities on a Tuesday night for competition and on Friday
evening for social darts.
The Sports and
Social Clubs role is to oversee the day to day administration of
the club, running of the bar, maintenance of the oval and buildings
payment of bills, and so on. It provides social activities for the
social members by way of Bingo sessions Wednesday evening and Friday
afternoon, It also provides four major social events through the
year. Friday evenings are also run by the social club, entertainment,
talent quests, meals, raffles, happy hours etc. These functions
are open to all parts of the club. A stipulation within the clubs
constitution states that any person over 18 playing sport for a
club under the umbrella of the parent club must be a member of the
Christies Beach Sports and Social Club. By way of good management
the club aims to provide facilities for all facets of the club and
community.
Christies
Beach Football Club Inc. (Saints)
- The Football Club competes in the Southern Football League and
is affiliated to the South Australian National Football League,
it has three senior and five junior sides. During the winter months
the club utilises the facilities Monday through to Thursday for
training and then weekends for home games. The club is given the
opportunity to run the canteen facilities and to take gate receipts
to raise funds for their club. They also can utilise the clubrooms
for their social events and functions. The club provides the opportunity
for over 120 footballers each week, and has produced a number of
fine players, Nigel Smart to mention one, For budding young players
looking to move into the higher levels of the sport the club provides
the first step. Over a season the club hosts all the other teams
in the league.
Noarlunga
Lions Soccer Club (Lions)
- In Season 96 the Noarlunga Lions Soccer club joined the ranks
of sporting clubs associated with The Bice Oval Complex. The Club
has two senior women's sides and an U/14 girl's team as well as
a large social base. Games are played on Sunday afternoons with
training sessions on Friday evenings. The club is affiliated to
the South Australian Womens Soccer League.
Southern
District Cricket Club Inc. (Stingrays)
- The Cricket Club competes in the South Australian Cricket Association
Grade Competition. The club has four senior and seven junior sides.
It is the biggest cricket club in South Australia. It competes against
all other district sides, from Northern District, Tea Tree Gully
in the North to Sturt and Glenelg in the South. From this level
of the game the State side is selected. The club provides access
to the higher level of the game for all people living South of Flagstaff
Hill and as far away as Victor Harbour. It is the elite cricket
club in the area. The club has the use of the ground and facilities
Monday to Thursday and weekends during the summer months. It should
be noted that the club runs the local primary school competition
which has 800 children participating. It is also patron of the Southern
Cricket Association which involves 550 players. The club also runs
a Have-A-Go Cricket Centre on Friday evenings for pre-competition
children interested in cricket.

This makes the
club one of the most diverse community sporting clubs in the South.
The club and
its affiliated bodies cater for a wide range of the community, women,
children, pensioners and social members. It provides a catchment
for state level sport as well as local sport. The oval and the clubroom
facilities are used 12 months a year, they are visited by a wide
range of people from other districts in South Australia including
country districts.
